Today
is Sunday. We will reach Aden in the morning. I felt uneasiness in my heart till Port Said. But after leaving that, I
felt happy and am looking forward for having a glimpse of motherland. I have
yet to see whether the present state of joy is temporary or lasting. I am
wearing the Indian dress current in S. Africa. I am busy learning Bengali. Hence, will not write more letters
at present. This letter may be shown to all the residents of the Phoenix
Farm. Kasturba sends blessings to you all. Tell Imamsaheb that I shall meet
his father. |

Narandas
Gandhi in his letter to Maganbhai Gandhi gives a very detailed, vivid and
graphic account of the several receptions that were held in Bombay in honour of Gandhiji on his
return from South
Africa. Ref.
to several such receptions, one presided over by Pherozshah Mehta, the other
by Jinnah and so on. Gandhiji in replying to those receptions placed his
ideas before the audiences. Narandas refers in particular to a reception held
by 'Modh Samaj', the same 'Samaj' which wanted to excommunicate Gandhiji while
he was going abroad for the first time. 'Modh Samaj' gave him a rousing
reception. Ref. to change of heart in Hansraj Sheth, uncle of Mohchandbhai, a
leading member of the 'Modh Samaj'. Narandas says that it was his good
fortune to be with Gandhiji for about a week at the happy moments in the life
of Gandhiji. Ref. to reception in honour of Kasturba also. Gandhiji went to Rajkot from where also reports have
come of receptions held in honour of Gandhiji. |
