Since 1983 Peter Rühe travels frequently to India in order to visit people and places related to Mahatma Gandhi and India's independence movement. He has presented multimedia events on Gandhi in many countries and has contributed to several publications and TV productions. In 1996 Peter Rühe received the award Photographer of the Year by Dinodia Picture Agency, Mumbai. He is the author of the book 'Gandhi - A Photo Biography', published by Phaidon Press, London/New York, and the founder of the GandhiServe Foundation, Berlin/Germany.
